The Garrack – Dog Friendly Hotel
It is true, we have 53 beaches in Cornwall where you can, in fact, take your dog, but the sad fact is a further 83 which are not dog friendly and restrictions at certain times are in place: which is such a shame as most of the dog owners in Cornwall are extremely good owners that act responsibly.
Doggy behaviour at The Garrack Hotel
Here at The Garrack Hotel we love dogs, and you are most welcome to bring your furry friend along during your stay, although he/she must be well behaved, and on a lead.
We would also, however, struggle a little if you have a large dog such as a great Dane, or an Irish Wolf Hound, fantastic dogs but regrettably a wee too big for the Hotel!
Dog Walks at the Garrack Hotel – St Ives
While staying at the Garrack Hotel you will find amazing walks around the Hotel area, and all around St Ives, it’s a wonderful place to bring a dog for your weekend or week-long holiday break with cliff top and countryside walks galore from the moment you step out the front door of the Hotel!
As you leave the hotel on any dog walk its always best to keep your dog on a lead, you will find most local farmers welcome dogs on their land as these are often part of public highways, however as you will expect many farmers have livestock in their fields in and around the Garrack Hotel, so please be respectful.
During your dog walks from the Garrack Hotel you will also see, (if you look carefully) a multitude of Cornish Wildlife in and around the hillsides and cliff tops, birds such as kestrels, Buzzards, Swifts, Cormorants, and sometimes if you are really lucky Barn Owls.
In addition to the birds, you will have opportunities to see Sand and Common Lizards, Grass Snakes, Slow Worms, and Adders.
